Latest drought report from US Drought Survey

Sep 6, 2024 | 10:14 AM
Despite recent rain, the US Drought Monitor has an increasing amount of Illinois listed as abnormally dry. The latest report released yesterday lists all of Kankakee, Will and Livingston Counties, the northern half of both Iroquois and Ford Counties, and the southeastern two-thirds of Grundy County as “abnormally dry”, the lowest level of concern for the report. While about the middle third of the state and the northwestern third of the state continue to have no drought concerns, there are portions of the southern part of the state listed as being in “moderate drought” in yesterday’s report.
