Sullivan Monday Afternoon Trial Update

Sep 24, 2024 | 6:09 AM

Testimony continued this afternoon in Kankakee County in the murder trial of accused cop killer Darius Sullivan. The 38-year-old Sullivan is accused of pulling the trigger on the gun that killed Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic and seriously wounded her partner Officer Tyler Bailey.   Bullets recovered at the scene were the subject of testimony this afternoon.  The jury heard from Illinois State Police Forensic Scientist Tracy Konior who testified that some of the bullets from the crime scene were definitely fired from Sergeant Rittmanic’s recovered service weapon as well as from a Glock discovered in the home where Sullivan was found.  Konior told the jury there were other bullets that could not be identified as definitely having been fired from either weapon, but Konior said that because the results were inconclusive, it’s still a possibility.  Sullivan’s trial is scheduled to run through Friday.
