Harris’s Brother Gets a Year

Xavier Harris Jr., the Brother of accused cop killer Xandria Harris, was sentenced to one year in prison and six months parole in Kankakee County Court today for his part in trying to shield his sister from arrest following the December 2021 shooting death of Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Ritmaaic.  Xavier Harris was convicted in May on charges of obstruction of justice and is the fifth person to be tried in connection with Ritmanic’s murder and the attempted murder of her partner that night Tyler Bailey.  The gunman Darius Sullivan was found guilty of murder in September and will be sentenced next month  The State wanted Harris’s brother locked up for three years while the defense requested parole.  Xandria Harris is still awaiting trial.
