Gibbs Sentenced for Tax Evasion

Former Pembroke Township Supervisor, Larry Dean Gibbs has been sentenced to 6 and a half years in federal prison for filing false tax returns for the years of 2012 through 2014.  Federal prosecutors say at the time Gibbs filed the false returns he had just been released from federal prison for the same crime in 2005.  At one point during his trial Gibbs claimed he had changed his name and was now an Ambassador for the AL Moroccan Empire National Republic.  He was apparently hoping for some kind of diplomatic immunity.  The 63 year old Gibbs has been ordered to report to prison on January 7th. He was found guilty in Federal Court in Urbana in April.
