Fire damages three homes in Kankakee

Kankakee City Fire Department personnel were called to a house fire on South Lincoln early this morning. According to reports it was just before 3:30 this morning when the call came in, and when firefighters arrived they found the fire at 702 South Lincoln had spread to the home at 1436 East Eagle and both homes were heavily engulfed in flames. The fire also damaged another nearby home. Fire departments from surrounding communities were called in to help put out the flames, which took nearly three hours to put out. Kankakee Fire Chief Brian LaRoche says everyone got out of the homes uninjured, but two firefighters were sent to the hospital with minor injuries. Fire caused some 85-thousand-dollars worth of damage each of the severely damaged homes and about 10-thousand dollars to the third home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
