It’s Veteran’s Day

Today is Veterans Day, the day we set aside to honor those who have served in the armed forces. Originally called armistice day, November 11th marked the end of world war I and the signing of the armistice between the Germany and the allies. Hostilities in the first world war ended at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month. It wasn’t until 1954 the date was made an official governmental holiday. Some local schools are off today, while others are in session, having taken last Tuesday off for electipon day. Most state, county and local governmental offices are closed today. There will be no mail delivery today. You may find your bank is closed as well. It’s probably a good idea to call ahead if you plan to do business today.
