There’s good news for homeless veterans in the Kankakee area. A successor to what was known as the Journey Home for young men has been rebuilt and renamed. Liberty Lodge is located in the 200 block of South Washington. Kankakee County Housing Authority owns the building and will manage the property. According to the Daily Journal the 3.3 million dollar facility will have 14 single bedroom units of about 250 sq. feet each with its own bathroom bedroom kitchenette. Rent is 750 dollars a month but no more than 30 percent of the veterans income.
