At this morning’s meeting of the Kankakee County Highways, Waterways and Building committee, the planning department’s Ben Wilson told committee members they will be bringing a barge onto the Kankakee River sometime in the coming months as a platform for workers who will be clearing sand sediment on the river bottom. Wilson says they’d like to start soon, but worker safety is paramount.
Wilson says they hope to have a notice of award contract ready for the committee’s approval at next month’s meeting.
