Two Area Nursing Homes Fined

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports two area nursing homes were fined for violations of the state’s Nursing Home Care Act in the third quarter of 2024. Accolade Healthcare in Paxton and Goldwater Care in Gibson City. According to the Ford County Chronicle, Accolade was hit with a 25,000 fine after a woman being re-positioned fell out of her bed and struck her head causing head trauma and brain bleed along with a skull fracture and spinal fractures.   Goldwater was fined two thousand dollars after accusations of mental abuse surfaced at the center.
