Skimming” devices found in Kankakee

Kankakee City Police report fraud at some ATM Machines in the City due to skimming. In a Facebook post, City Police say card skimming devices are typically installed on outdoor machines and look as if they belong there. High-quality devices attach over the card slot while others are placed inside the card slot to read your card’s information. Sometimes, a small camera is installed nearby to record your PIN number. City Police say you should check ATM’s for skimming devices and ask management for help if you’re unsure of the machine. They say if you suspect a skimming device you should report it to bank authorities as well as law enforcement.
