Coal City Man Killed By Train

A Coal City man was killed this morning when he was hit by a train in Coal City.  It happened this morning about 3:45 just north of the Rt. 113 and North First Ave. railroad crossing in Coal City.  The Grundy County Coroner’s office identifies the victim as 40 year old Scott Marizza.   Authorities say the train’s engineer applied the brake and horn when he saw someone on the tracks, but it was too late.  Marizza was pronounced dead at the scene.  Officials are not sure why he was on the tracks.
