Harris in Court Last Friday

Accused killer Xandria Harris was in a Kankakee County Courtroom last Friday.  Harris is charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Bradley police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and of the wounding of Sgt. Tyler Bailey at a Bradley Hotel in December of 2021.  The two were shot by Harris’s boyfriend, 28 year old Darius Sullivan who has been convicted. The Daily Journal reports that Harris was in court last week for arguments to suppress evidence seized in the search of the hotel room that night in her upcoming trial.  The defense contends the search was illegal because police did not have a warrant or probable cause for her arrest only for Sullivan’s.  However, prosecutors countered that police did have a search warrant for the room that night.  A ruling on the issue is expected next month.  Sullivan is to be sentenced next Tuesday.
