Flood Warning for Kankakee River at Momence

Flood Warning remains in effect for the Kankakee River at Momence.  The warning will remain in effect until further notice.  The National Weather Service says low-lying flooding is being caused by a growing ice dam on the river. Flood stage for the river at Momence is five feet and, according to the US Geological Survey, as of this morning the river was at just over six feet. Areas like Island Park, River Isle Road and Eagle Island Road near Sun River Terrace can expect at least some flooding.
