Charges against a Wheatfield, Indiana couple who allegedly buried their two undocumented children in their yard have been dismissed for now because of a lack of evidence. In Jasper County Court this morning the state requested that the charges be dropped. Prosecutors say that with no evidence and no eyewitnesses the only indication that a crime has been committed are text messages between the two and in Indiana that’s not enough for a conviction. The couple allegedly burned the bodies in a fire pit in Wheatfield. Investigators did find bone fragments at three locations on the property, but a forensic analysis of the bones has not yet been completed. Charges could be refiled if the reports indicate the bones are human. The parents deny it all.
