Kankakee City Police are looking into a burglary to a home Thursday. According to reports, officers were called to the home in the 700 block of North Hammes just after one Thursday afternoon where a woman told them a man had come to her door saying he was from the City and needed her to meet him in the back yard. The victim told police she got her coat on, went to the back yard and waited for the man, who never appeared. As she went back into her house, the woman told police she saw the man leaving out the front door and getting into a black SUV. A check found the man had entered her bedroom and made off with some jewelry and some change.
