City Police report battery arrest

Kankakee City Police report an arrest after a 40-year-old man allegedly battered a woman. It was just after five last nigh when city police were called to a business in the 900 block of East Court Street where a woman told them Brian C. Thornton had stopped her outside the store and asked her to buy him some cigarettes. Thornton allegedly told the woman he couldn’t get them himself because he was forbidden from entering the store. When the woman refused to buy the smokes for Thornton, he allegedly became irate and grabbed her arms before scuffling with her and running away. City Police arrested Thornton for Battery and resisting a police officer.
