Dwight Man Arrested for Leaving the Scene of Pedestrian Accident

A Dwight man has been arrested after he allegedly left the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian on February 15th .   According to Grundy County Sheriff’s police, 34 year old Joseph Smothers was southbound on Rt. 66 near Old Mazon Road when he allegedly struck a pedestrian who was walking along the side of the road.   The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Smothers was later found at his home.  Deputies say his vehicle has damage consistent with evidence found at the scene.  Smothers is facing multiple charges.
