Kankakee County Finance Director Steve McCarty took a cautionary tone when speaking to a meeting today of the Kankakee County Finance Committee. McCarty expressed his concern for the county accepting new grant money when the grant requires a local match. Because the local match is usually percentage based, McCarty says the local costs can spiral upward as benefits and salaries increase.
McCarty says he sees the economy slowing down slightly locally with county sales tax revenue from last year down by over 93,000 dollars from the previous year.
