Mar 7, 2025 | 6:48 PM
A Chicago Heights crematory has been shut down after more than 100 bodies were found stored in trailers. The Illinois Comptroller’s Office is investigating Heights Crematory for improper storage practices, with bodies discovered in sheets and bags instead of proper containers. The business faces fines up to $5,000 per violation or loses its license. Families of the deceased have not yet been notified, though funeral homes have been contacted. State regulators are now overseeing the cremation of the remaining bodies on site
