Manhattan Phys Ed Teacher on Paid Leave, Fired

A Manhattan District 114 physical education teacher, placed on paid leave last week amid allegations of violating district policy, will not return next year. On Wednesday, the Manhattan Board of Education unanimously voted not to renew the junior high teacher’s contract. Manhattan Police say their investigation that began two days after the teacher was escorted off school grounds, should wrap up this week.  Meanwhile, parents are demanding answers and transparency and at a heated March 12th meeting, were questioning student safety and district leadership. The district is not talking as it faces separate lawsuits over alleged misconduct in its ranks.
