The latest report from the US Drought Monitor shows significant improvement in drought conditions across the area. The map just released today shows all of Kankakee, Grundy and Will Counties without any drought concern at all. Meanwhile, 45 percent of Livingston County, 97 percent of Ford County and 70 percent of Iroquois County are considered to be “abnormally dry”. Another 20 percent of Iroquois County is considered to be in “moderate drought” Across the state line, the latest map shows all of Benton County to be in “moderate drought”, with 63 percent of Newton County and 71 percent of Jasper County considered to be just “abnormally dry”.
