During this morning’s meeting of the Kankakee County Board’s Criminal Justice Committee. State’s Attorney Jim Rowe was asked if there’s been any headway made in Springfield to change some of the provisions of the so-called SAFE-T act. Rowe told the committee 79th District State Representative Jackie Haas has introduced some legislation again this legislative session, but so far they’ve failed to gain traction
Rowe was asked what could be done to try to help get some of this proposed legislation through the committee process and to the House floor for a vote. He said he’s not sure what can be done
Rowe said Haas has also introduced legislation that would increase prison time for some violent offenders, but those have also failed to make it out of committee.
