Fire damages Kankakee apartment

Kankakee Fire Department Personnel were called out this morning to what’s described as a “small kitchen fire” in the second floor apartment of a building in the 300 block of North Dearborn. Reports say the fire was quickly put out and damage was limited to the apartment and some water damage to the hall. Kankakee Fire Chief Brian LaRoche says the fire was accidental, caused by food left on the stove. It caused some 10-thousand dollars in damage to the building and displaced two people. There were no injuries reported.
