Durbin won’t see re-election

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin is retiring from Congress.  The Democrat announced on Wednesday that he will not seek re-election next year.  He currently serves as the Senate minority whip and is a ranking member of the Judiciary Committee.  Durbin said in his heart, he knows it’s time to pass the torch.  He was elected in 1996 and is one of most senior members of the Senate.  Durbin also represented Illinois in the House for 14 years.
