Baby left unattended in Downtown Kankakee

A baby was allegedly left unattended inside a van in Downtown Kankakee for extended period of time yesterday. According to a police report, Kankakee City police were called to 400 East Court Street around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon to find a the infant inside a white van in the west parking lot of the post office. Officers were able to get inside the van and retrieve the baby safely. The infant was found to be breathing, showed signs of a possible rash, and transported to the hospital for additional treatment. The baby’s father, 36 year old Sean D. Mchugh was arrested and allegedly charged with one count of child endangerment. Witnesses say the van had possibly been in the parking lot since about seven Tuesday morning.
