The latest map just released today by the US Drought Monitor shows drought concerns persist across the region. According to the map, the entirety of Kankakee and Will Counties as well as 85 percent of Iroquois County continue to be in “moderate drought”. Those numbers virtually unchanged from last week. This week’s map shows 11 percent of Ford County, five percent of Livingston County and 27 percent of Grundy county to be in moderate drought, with the rest of those counties considered simply “abnormally dry”.
Across the state line, all of Newton, Jasper and Benton Counties also continue to be considered as in “moderate drought”. Today’s map includes data gathered through Tuesday of this week.
