A traffic stop Sunday morning netted Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department a drug arrest. According to reports it was just after 10:30 yesterday morning when deputies stopped a car near the intersection of Mill and 4th in Aroma Park because the driver and passenger weren’t wearing their seatbelts. Deputies say they could smell the odor of raw cannabis coming from the car and when asked, the driver handed over a baggie containing a green-leafy substance. A search of the car’s occupants allegedly turned up a baggie containing a white powdery substance and a clear rock-like substance on the passenger, identified as 47-year-old Jesus Zarate of Aroma Park. Zarate was arrested by Deputies on various drug related charges.
