A person was apparently struck in the head with a hammer after a verbal fight early yesterday morning on Kankakee’s south side. According to city police reports, officers were called to the parking lot of a nearby business at 1601 River Road in reference to a battery that occurred at a gas station on Riverstone Court. The victim alleged that while at the gas station, someone from a dark colored car threw a slushy at her daughter’s car. Both the victim and her daughter exited the car, as well as three people from the dark colored car, and began arguing. One of the three people from the other car, later identified as 36 year old Amanda Pavon, allegedly went to the trunk of her car and took out a hammer and struck the victim over the head. Pavon was located later by city police and arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
