Madigan Sentenced

Michael Madigan is going to federal prison in his corruption case.  The former Illinois House Speaker was sentenced Friday to seven-and-a-half years behind bars after he was found guilty in February of bribery and other corruption counts.  Federal prosecutors say Madigan conspired with others to get ComEd to make monetary payments to his associates in exchange for favorable legislation.  Prosecutors had asked for a 12-and-a-half year prison sentence.  Madigan was the longest-serving state House leader in U.S. history, spending 36 years as speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives.  He was ordered to report to prison October 13th.
