Bourbonnais Trustees vote on tax proposals

During last night’s Bourbonnais Village Board meeting, Village Trustees took action on a pair of tax proposals. The first is a one-percent tax on groceries sold in the Village. Village Finance Director Tara Latz says this tax replaces on the State is set to take away January first
Latz noted the Village is one of more than 150 municipalities state wide that have voted to keep the one percent tax on groceries.
The other tax proposal increases sales taxes in the Village by one percent. Again Finance Director Latz

Latz said the tax increase willl go into effect January first and will bring the Village in line with other municipalities in the county. Village trustees have tied the tax increase to a promise of property tax relieve on the Village’s portion of home owner’s property taxes.

Also during last night’s meeting, the Village swore in another Patrolman to join the Village Police force.
