Attempted Kidnapping in Morris

A Morris man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly attempting to kidnap a woman and her daughter. Morris police say officers were called to the 400 block of Liberty Street around 8 Saturday night where a woman and her 11 year old daughter were sitting in their car when they allegedly saw a man later identified as 37 year old Christopher Stassin, crouch down by the car next to theirs. Stassin allegedly walked in a crouched position towards the woman’s car, stared at the woman and her daughter with his face pressed up against the glass. Stassin apparently tried to open the car doors but they were all locked. The woman, along with family members, were able to chase Stassin away from the car. The family provided police with Stassin’s location and he was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and attempted aggravated kidnapping.
