Jan 9, 2026 | 5:56 AM

A public forum was held Wednesday night at Lincoln Cultural Center to give information about the closure of Edison Primary School. Kankakee School District 111 Board President Chris Bohlen said it was planned to close the school at the end of the year as a money-saving move, but a study done by a structural engineer changed those plans

District Superintendent Doctor Teresa Lance discussed where the students will be going

Dr. Lance went on to explain where other individual classrooms would be moving as well. In all, more than 300 students and staff were affected by the closure. Edison students have been on remote learning this week, they’re expected to be back to in-person learning at their new locations starting Monday. Another forum is scheduled for this evening starting at five at the LCC
