City Council Airs Aqua Concerns

Jan 21, 2026 | 11:50 AM
The expansion of the Aqua Water Treatment Plant on Cobb Boulevard in Kankakee was a topic of discussion at Monday night’s city council meeting with 6th Ward Aldermen Mike Cobbs raising his concerns.

Aqua Business Development Director Jim Bilotta says the Environmental Protection Agency has recently required some updates.

Mayor Chris Curtis says communication with Aqua needs to be better.

Mayor Curtis said Aqua is currently going through the zoning process with the city and won’t break ground this year. Kankakee and Aqua officials plan to meet soon to discuss the concerns of the project.
