Legionnaires Detected at Shapiro

The State Department of Public Health has confirmed a case of Legionnaires’ disease at Shapiro Developmental Center. Capitol News Illinois says a joint statement from the IDPH and the Illinois Department of Human Services was released late Tuesday – confirming a single case at Shapiro. The state declined to comment on the condition of the resident who had tested positive for the disease. Shapiro is currently home to 464 adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
