Fire Damages Apartment Building in Kankakee

Fire caused about five-thousand-dollars worth of damage to an apartment building in Kankakee over the weekend. Kankakee City Fire Department personnel were called out to the fire in the 700 block of North Chicago Avenue about two Saturday afternoon. When they got there, firefighters found a small electrical fire contained to the building’s main breaker box. Tenants from seven of the building’s eight units had to be displaced while the damage is fixed. No injuries were reported, the fire was thought to have been electrical in nature.
