Feb 13, 2026 | 9:07 AM

Kankakee City Police were called to a burglary on the city’s east side Wednesday evening. According to reports, officers arrived to a home in the six-hundred block of South Moore Street around five-thirty Wednesday to find broken glass paneling on the back porch patio. Once inside the home, officers found a broken alarm system in the living room and footprints that  appear to belong to size 8 Crocs shoes on the hood of a silver Ford Taurus in the garage. The owner of the home said she had an alarm alert from the security company just before noon Wednesday but did not have her cell phone on her at the time. The owner lives elsewhere and planned to rent the house out to her nephew. She said nothing appeared to be missing in the home but it did look like someone may have slept on the couch in the living room. Police continue to investigate.
