Jasper County Deputies Arrest Rensselaer man Following Chase

Jasper County Indiana Sheriff’s Police report the arrest of a Rensselaer man after he allegedly let them on a high speed chase late Saturday night. In a press release, deputies say it was just before 11:30 Saturday night when they tried to stop a car on State Road 49 in rural Wheatfield. Instead of stopping, the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Tucker Ellis of Rensselaer took off and led officers on a chase at speeds of over 100 miles an hour. Reports say at one point, Ellis tried to hit two officers who shot at his car. One of the shots reportedly hit Ellis who got out of his car and took off on foot. He was captured a short time later at his home, with a gunshot wound to his hand. Charges are pending against Ellis. Indiana State Police are investigating the shooting.
