Kankakee City Council passed a resolution to approve a grocery store feasibility study for the city’s east and north sides at Tuesday night’s meeting. Mayor Chris Curtis says the east side of the city is a food desert.
Mayor Curtis says his goal is not to have two new groceries in the city but at least one either on the east side or north side. The feasibility study will cost around 29-thousand dollars. Mayor Curtis hopes the study will be completed by this Spring or Summer.
