Harris Trial set to Begin Monday

The jury trial for Xandria Harris accused in the 2021 murder of Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic and wounding of Officer Tyler Bailey is set to begin Monday morning in Kankakee County Court. Judge Kathy Bradshaw-Elliot said in a hearing last week she expects jury selection to take two days and the overall trial about two weeks. A Zoom hearing was held Wednesday of this week to go over the witness list and questions allowed to be asked during the trial. Harris faces three counts of first degree murder, one count of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and child endangerment. Darius Sullivan, Harris’s boyfriend at the time of the murder, was convicted last year and sentenced to life in prison.
