Kankakee City Police Report Attempted Home Break-in

Kankakee City Police say a city resident scared a man away as he was breaking into his house. According to reports, it happened just after 11 Wednesday night when officers were called by a man who said someone was trying to break into his house in the 600 block of North Harrison Avenue. When they got there, they spoke to the victim who said he’d heard someone trying to break into the side door of his house, which he had barricaded. The man said the person was dressed all in black and wore a black ski mask. The would-be burglar reportedly took off when the victim yelled “get away”. City Police are investigating.
