A press conference was held this morning at the Kankakee County Sheriff’s office in regards to last night’s severe weather. Sheriff Mike Downey says deputies first saw the tornado touchdown near the Kankakee County Fairgrounds.
Sheriff Downey was joined by Kankakee County Board Chairman Matt Alexander-Hildebrand, Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis, and a representative of ComEd. Downey added the National Weather Service will be in the area today to survey damage.
