Kankakee City Police Report Two Drug Arrests

Kankakee City Police report a pair of drug arrests Thursday. Reports say officers conducted a routine traffic stop in the 400 block of South Rosewood Avenue just before 5:30 Thursday night. Officers could see marijuana burning in the center console of the car and asked the two people inside to step out to search the car. Police found a black jacket in the car with about five grams of suspected crack-cocaine in the pocket. Neither person wanted to claim the jacket so since the car belonged to 33 year old Pierre P. Washington, he was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. A search of the passenger of the car, 34-year-old Devion N. Love, turned up around 37 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, seven-hundred eighty dollars cash, and a digital scale. Love was charged with Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. A second search of the vehicle turned up some heroin and fentanyl. Both were transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center without incident.
