Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police report the arrest of a Chebanse man after he was allegedly clocked doing about 100 miles an hour on a rural road between Chebanse and Cabery Sunday night. According to reports, it was just after nine Sunday night when a Country Deputy says he saw the pick up driven by 24-year-old Emerson J Frerichs of Chebanse traveling at a high rate of speed on eight-thousand South Road. Radar reportedly caught Frerichs doing 98 in a 55 mile an hour zone. Reports say Frerichs stopped just east of 12-thousand West Road. Deputies say as they approached the truck, Frerichs allegedly tossed something out the driver’s side window. That “something” turned out to be a knotted plastic baggie containing suspected cocaine. A search of the truck allegedly turned up a loaded handgun. Frerichs was arrested by deputies for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and DUI among other charges.
