BBN woman sentenced for fraud

A Bourbonnais woman is sentenced to one-year in prison for pandemic related fraud.  Octavia Renee Murphy pleaded guilty in January to multiple charges.  Prosecutors say Murphy was the leader and organizer of a 14-person conspiracy that defrauded the Small Business Administration of more than 169-thousand-dollars by submitting false COVID relief loan applications.  Murphy was employed by the State of Illinois at the Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee at the time of her fraud.
