Bourbonnais Man Dies in Bicycle Crash in Rural Manteno

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office reports a Bourbonnais man died in a car versus bicycle crash in rural Manteno this morning. According to a press release, deputies responded to the accident around seven forty-five this morning on 4-thousand East Road, approximately one-half mile north of 6-thousand North Road, east of Manteno. When first responders arrived, they found the bicyclist, identified as 29-year-old Bailey C. Caldwell, unconscious in the roadway. Caldwell was transported to the hospital where he later died of his injuries. A portion of 4-thousand East Road in Manteno was closed for several hours this morning while clean-up and investigation efforts got underway. The road has since been reopened. Sheriff’s police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
