Air Quality Alert issued as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues

Smoke from the Canadian Wildfires continues to cause trouble in the area. The smoke moved it late in the day Thursday. Air now dot gov says air quality in the Kankakee area is in the unhealthy for sensitive groups, meaning people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should limit their time outdoors. Problems from the smoke expected to be heightened by high temperatures again today. The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for the area through at least tonight.
