Judge Elliott Orders Harris Defense Team to Remove Domestic Violence Ribbons

Day two of jury selection for the Xandria Harris murder trial got underway in Kankakee County Circuit Court this morning. An outburst broke out before jury selection continued between Judge Kathy Bradshaw Elliott and Defense Attorney Cierra Norris. Norris and her staff were all wearing purple ribbons in support of domestic violence victims. Norris asked if Harris could wear one as well. Judge Elliott said no and demanded all of them to take off the ribbons or they would be held in contempt. Norris and her associates complied but not without protest. As far as jury selection goes, It took over two hours yesterday to seat two jurors. Each potential juror is being asked several questions individually in private to weed out anyone who possibly has bias in the case. Jury selection is expected to take the rest of the week.
