US 231 in Jasper County reopened

Things have somewhat returned to normal on US231 in Jasper County Indiana. That after the roadway was closed for several days over the weekend due to a cooking oil spill, which caused unsafe driving conditions just north of Rensselaer. The highway was first closed just before noon Saturday and didn’t reopen until about 11 Monday morning. The Indiana Department of Transportation closed down the highway and a HAZMAT team was called in to deal with the spill. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Police are investigating the spill. At last report officials didn’t know where the oil had come from.
