Manteno Firefighters kept busy Friday night

Manteno Fire Department personnel handled a traffic crash and a house fire within a half hour of each other Friday evening. In a press release, Manteno Community Fire Protection District Fire Chief Rick Petersen says firefighters were called to a motorcycle crash on Route 45 at 10-thousand-North Road just after 4:30 Friday afternoon and treated two people at the scene before they were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Then, just after five Friday evening Manteno Fire was called to a house fire on nine-thousand-North Road. Reports say when firefighters got there, they found heavy fire coming from the home and, with the help of firefighters from surrounding communities, spent about two hours putting out the blaze. Reports go on to say one firefighter was taken from the scene with a non-life-threatening emergency. Nobody else was injured battling the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
