Illinois State Police have been called in to investigate after an officer involved shooting in Onarga overnight. Iroquois County Sheriff’s police say they were called to a home in the 200 block of North Chestnut in Onarga overnight for a report of a man needing a psychological evaluation. When they got there, deputies say they found 29-year-old Julian Munoz holding a knife on the roof, doing damage to the home. Reports say deputies were able to talk Munoz off the roof, but at one point he allegedly charged at deputies with the knife and was shot by police. Munoz was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injury. Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police say he’ll be charged with aggravated assault ones he’s released from the hospital.
